Even though Chelsea nearly killed Rey and framed Adam for the crime, the dynamic has shifted. Rey and Chelsea have developed a friendship and seem to have a bond. Rey was pleased to see Chelsea back in Genoa City and has been supportive of her new chapter.

It’s turned into an unlikely friendship, but could it turn into something more? It seems the soap has been dropping plenty of hints that Rey and Chelsea could turn romantic. Plus, Rey really seems to have connected with Chelsea and Adam’s son, Connor Newman (Judah Mackey). Rey even got Connor the perfect Christmas gift, which Chelsea gushed about a few weeks ago.

The Young and the Restless spoilers reveal that Sharon has noticed that Rey’s been kind toward Chelsea. The way Rey treated Chelsea during New Year’s Eve was one example. Rey encouraging Chelsea to move forward from Adam and complimenting her parenting skills was another example.

More recently, Sharon noticed how easily Chelsea opened up and talked to Rey. Of course, Rey blew it off as if it were no big deal. However, Sharon could see the bounce in Rey’s step and how big he smiled when Chelsea was around.

It is clear that Chelsea needs a new love interest. While love triangles are common in soaps, Chelsea and Adam have been together and broke up several times. Meanwhile, Rey and Sharon haven’t had any marriage drama in quite a while. Relationships never go for long with obstacles or bombshells in the soap universe.

Could Rey and Chelsea’s bond be what happens next? Could they end up taking their friendship to the next level? If so, Chelsea could end up pregnant, which would give Rey what Sharon never could… a child of his own. We will have to keep watching to see if there is where the storyline is headed.
