The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Daniel Goddard Discusses A Possible Y&R Return

The Young and The Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease Daniel Goddard portrayed Cane Ashby on The Young and the Restless for 13 years. His character was married to Lily Ashby (Christel Khalil) and they were a beloved couple known as Lane. Goddard was abruptly let go from the daytime drama but recently announced he would return under the right circumstances.

Cane Ashby first arrived in Genoa City in 2007 but was shot to death in 2011. An outcry from viewers got him back on the screen and the storyline then stated that it was Cane’s twin Caleb Atkinson who had died. Pleas from Goddard’s fans have not been heeded since he was fired again in October 2019.

Goddard was guarded in his answer regarding a return to Y&R as indicated by the following statement. “I would very much entertain it. There would have to be some different circumstances based upon the way the whole thing came to an end, which is a chapter out of Eric Braeden or Jeanne Cooper’s tell-all book. The storyline had Cane and Lily divorce, sell their home and send their twins Charlie Ashby (Noah Alexander Gerry) and Mattie Ashby (Lexie Stephenson) away to college.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Cane Ashby Needs Closure

Cane’s life in Genoa City began going downhill after he impregnated Juliet Helton (Laur Allen). After Juliet died in childbirth Lily agreed to be a mother to baby Sam but later changed her mind. Cane was suspected of assisting his father Colin Atkinson (Tristan Rogers) in stealing Devon Hamiton’s (Bryton James) inheritance. He left town to prove his innocence and never returned. Colin was prosecuted and proclaimed he was working alone but Cane and Sam are still out there somewhere. Fans would love Daniel Goddard to return and give his character proper closure.
