Daniel Goddard (Cane Ashby) recently announced his exit from the cast of ‘The Young and the Restless’. Based on advanced episode recording schedules, it’s estimated that Goddard final scenes could be shown before year’s end.

In the lead-up to this longtime Y&R actor’s sendoff, Tristan Rogers’ (Colin Atkinson) return on November 20 makes sense. Jill Abbott Atkinson (Jess Walton) referenced her estranged husband and Cane’s father as potentially the person who’s been orchestrating the challenge to Katherine Chancellor’s (Jeanne Cooper) will, which has resulted in Cane preparing to receive nearly two and a half billion dollars.

Devon didn’t want to believe that his paternal grandmother’s final wishes were vastly different than originally presented in 2013, when Katherine passed away. And then Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) appeared and he couldn’t believe his eyes.

Amanda, a ringer for Hilary Hamilton (Morgan’s initial role on this soap) believed that Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) was her client. He’s not, as Y&R’s newest recast character told Amanda after Simon Black (Jeffrey Vincent Parise) was neutralized.

As viewers recall and Amanda just repeated, the voice of an older man, someone who she previously referred to as an “old jerk”, was claiming to be Chance. Yes, that is the type of scheme Colin would play, but is yet to be confirmed.

Y&R Spoilers – Colin Atkinson A Grifter From Way Back

Colin left Genoa City, Wisconsin, years ago and hasn’t been seen since. Jill has made scant reference to him, other than saying that their marriage appeared to be over. Then, after noticing the postmark on an envelope that was connected to the will issue, she recalled that exotic location was one of Colin’s treasured places.

Jill’s tell to Cane made him wonder if his former and maybe still underworld father was behind the push to strip Devon of the bulk of Katherine’s fortune. Colin is a grifter from way back who even stole from Jill. A rogue who surely ranks high on any suspect list and is often the guilty party.

Young And The Restless Spoilers – Cane Ashby Deserves Sunset Walk-off

Cane arrived in GC claiming to be a switched-at-birth member of the Chancellor family. He later dropped that ruse and was embraced by both Jill and Katherine.

Goddard’s on-screen work with Christel Khalil (Lily Winters) proved outstanding. Together they delivered the endearing couple ‘Lane’ and produced a family, which includes Charlie Ashby (Noah Alexander Gerry) and Mattie Ashby (Lexie Stevenson), along with Sam Ashby (a never cast role), Cane’s baby with Juliet Helton (Laur Allen), who Lily helped care for.

Considering Goddard’s long tenure and Cane’s prominence in many key storylines through the years, it would seem best that Y&R write him out most fittingly. Here’s hoping Cane’s final episode ends with him in good standing, while walking off into the sunset. And let’s leave open the possibility for Goddard to return some day as well, as all great actors are always welcome in daytime.
