Losing Neil was a major shock. He was middle-aged and not known to be ill. But the thought of Neil being in heaven with his adopted mother, Drucilla Winters (Victoria Rowell), has provided Devon comfort.

In contrast, the loss of another loved one stung badly. Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) came into Devon’s life when he was grieving Hilary Hamilton’s (Mishael Morgan) tragic death and Neil’s passing. The timing of their meeting indicated eventual marriage and children. Sadly, neither outcome happened.

Elena was linked to healing and love until she betrayed Devon’s trust by coupling with his cousin, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic).

Lily is feelings a similar chill. She has come to understand Nate’s perspective about Devon, seeing him as a grudge holder.
