The Young and The Restless spoilers and rumors tease that after finding out Aria Porter-Copeland (Millie and Maddie Ingle) may be deaf, Devon Winters (Bryton James) will step up. He offers to answer any questions Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) and Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) have, but when he finds out there’s no cure he’ll likely look for one.
The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Devon Winters Was Deaf As A Teen
Devon himself was deaf as a teen and on into his young adulthood, when he met his birth father Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) through the music business.
It was thought there was no cure for Devon’s deafness, but in his case there was – and Tucker paid for him to have cochlear implants.
In his case, Devon acquired the hearing loss through contracting meningitis, unlike Aria who may have been born with it and is only six months old.
He finds out Aria’s pediatrician confirmed she has hearing loss and tells Tessa and Mariah he’ll help in any way he can, and answer any questions.
Aria has an appointment with an audiologist, Dr. George (Mattilyn Rochester Kravitz) and they hope there will be good news.
Y & R Spoilers – Treatable, But Not Curable
Unfortunately, Mariah and Tessa are told by Dr. George that the condition causing Aria’s deafness is treatable, but not curable. This means that perhaps hearing aids might help her, but she may be way too young for cochlear implants such as helped Devon.
They have had Aria since she was born, and the birth mother didn’t mention any genetic issues in her family-although, perhaps, there could be on the birth father’s side.
Delphine, (uncast character) didn’t mention him or what happened to him, since he wasn’t in the picture, and Mariah and Tessa didn’t want to pry.
Undoubtedly, they are wishing they had and had gotten more health information about Aria’s birth parents but they found it difficult to be approved as parents through normal channels.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Devon Winters Can Relate, And Won’t Give Up
Not surprisingly, when Devon hears the audiologist’s diagnosis, he relates to not being able to hear when all his friends could, and how difficult it was.
He learned sign language as did his family, but Aria is only six months old and hasn’t even learned to talk normal, let alone sign.
He’ll step up and do whatever he can to help Mariah and Tessa investigate the most cutting-edge treatments possible, and not give up on a cure.
Will the cure be cochlear implants, when Aria gets older, or will the tot and her adoptive parents have to live with it and deal?
Devon won’t stop until he finds answers and a way to prevent Aria from having to deal with “being different” at such a young age.
