After Kyle exploded over Summer’s deception, Diane made an unexpected statement. Diane asked the Abbott family to forgive Summer. Diane acted like she understood how hard it must have been for Summer to choose between her husband and mother.

Of course, this strategy was triple-fold. One, it makes Diane look like a better person, which just makes Phyllis’ scheme look even worse. Second, it puts Summer in the awkward position of having to be graceful to Diane in front of everyone. Third, Diane could target Summer as a way to get back at Phyllis. It’s misdirected rage, but it’s still rage and happens all the time with people.

At that time, Diane and Summer left Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson), Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson), Traci and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) to have a private family meeting.

At that time, Kyle admitted why he was having such a hard time forgiving Summer. Kyle doesn’t know if Summer would have ever confessed if she hadn’t gotten caught. Kyle is also seeing that Summer is a lot more like Phyllis than he thought.
