The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Donny Boaz Was Told He And Four Others Were Being Cut
Donny explained the whole thing on an Instagram post on January 31. Donny knew he was being let go on Christmas Eve – he got a call from the powers that be at The Young and The Restless, and he had gotten his schedule previously with all his filming dates through March 2021 on December 22, 2020. He had filmed his last show on December 23, which airs on February 1.
He had flown home to Dallas, Texas for the holidays to spend time with family. On Christmas Eve – of which he remarked sarcastically, “Merry Christmas” he received a phone call, and he was told that the powers that be at The Young And The Restless was not going to renew his contract for another cycle. When he asked about the storyline he was involved in, he was told that Chance will not be replaced or killed off – he will just disappear! He went on to write about the storyline.
Donny cannot make much sense out of being involved in a storyline in which Chance and Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) had just married, and he had just been welcomed into the Newman Family by Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) only to have Chance disappear. Viewers will recall that there was a surrogacy storyline in a place where Chance and Abby were going to have Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) carry their baby!
Donny explains that the statement he received from The Young and The Restless head honchos is that because of the costs they have to cover for required Covid testing, production has to let go of four or five contract players. Donny didn’t say if he knew who the others are. There will be at least three, maybe four others besides Chance missing from the soap!
The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Donny Boaz Chooses To Be Better, Not Bitter
Donny goes on to say that regardless if that is the real reason or not, he is not angry or bitter. He is sad. He says he invested a year of his life into this storyline and didn’t get to finish it out. Overall, he says he is thankful and grateful and considers his time as Chance an amazing opportunity. Donny also compares his experience to the myriads of people who lost their jobs to the pandemic.
Donny felt blessed to even have a job during what many people have felt was the craziest time in history! He feels he is a better actor for having played Chance, and says he filmed 108 episodes in all. He then thanks The Young and The Restless, all his castmates and the crew, and his fans.
He says he will miss his coworkers. He also thanks his agents and his manager, and tags Melissa Ordway and complements her for being one of the greatest actresses he’s ever worked with and he had hoped to, with her, be one of the greatest daytime couples ever.
We wish Donny Boaz well in his future endeavors. Stay tuned to The Young and The Restless, and keep checking The Young and The Restless spoilers frequently for all the latest news, updates, and developments!
