Fans of the popular daytime soap will be thrilled to hear there are at least another four more years of Y&R coming for their delight.
The Young and the Restless is the highest-rated daytime drama on CBS and has plenty of fans. The good news coming from CBS is that the popular soap has been renewed through 2024.
The Young and the Restless isn’t going anywhere
The Young and the Restless has been running for 31 years and is rated the best and most-watched daytime drama series. CBS announced on January 30 that more steamy romances, surprise reveals and heart-warming moments will continue to come right through to 2024.
The additional four years of the show will officially see The Young and the Restless hitting its 50th anniversary, which is no mean accomplishment.
‘A tremendous accomplishment’
Kelly Kahl, the President of CBS Entertainment said that having a number one show at any time is “a tremendous accomplishment,” but The Young and the Restless has been at the top rating for more than 30 years. Kahl said the last time any show could brag of this was when Ronald Reagan was president and the Berlin Wall was still intact.
Kahl attributed this success to an extraordinary cast, many of whom have been with the soap for many years. She also lauded the talented producers, gifted writers, and most importantly, the soap’s passionate fans, but also referred to their “tremendous partnership with Sony Pictures Television.”
Y&R’s 50th anniversary and beyond
Steve Kent is the Senior Executive Vice President for Programming at Sony Pictures Television. He said they are all thrilled to continue The Young and the Restless legacy at CBS, saving this will take them from the 50th anniversary in 2023 and beyond.

Kent referred to the “iconic characters” created 47 years ago by William J. Bell and Lee Philip Bell, who continue captivating audiences across the U.S. and beyond. Kent went on to say they are looking forward to “building on the dynamic storylines” in place for the beloved characters.
CBS notes that Y&R has been a major part of CBS Daytime for more than 47 years and also leads all other daytime dramas, according to Nielson. They quoted a viewership of 4.11 million, including women from the ages of 25 to 54 (1.0) and women from 18 to 49 (0.6).
Keep watching The Young and the Restless on weekdays at 12:30 PM ET/11:30 AM PT on CBS and CBS All Access for another four years!
