It just makes sense that TPTB (The Powers That Be) would throw the viewers a curve ball by redeeming her in the eyes of everyone but the trio.

Diane should not be trusted. That is as true today as it was in the 90s. But one thing you can’t dispute is her love for her grandson, Harrison. And the toddler seems to love her, too. So, if she were in the position of saving his life, she wouldn’t hesitate to do so.

If she saved his life with, say, a blood transfusion or bone marrow, her past transgressions would be wiped clean. Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) would forgive her for deceiving Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman). She might even beg her mother to stop her campaign to run Kyle’s mom out of town.
