The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers indicate that Alyssa Montalvo (Maria DiDomenico) is the one framing Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson).

As Y&R viewers witnessed weeks ago, a mysterious gunman tried to kill Adam Newman (Mark Grossman), but Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) got caught in the crossfire.  Chance made a recovery, and now police are investigating who was after Adam.

Billy is the number one suspect on the list given his history with Adam. The two men have been embroiled in a heated rivalry in recent months, which stems from Billy’s scathing article about Adam.

Billy has plenty of motive for wanting Adam dead and it looks like he’ll be facing the prospect of jail time as evidence mounts.  However, as most Y&R fans suspect, Billy isn’t the culprit, but it’ll be another character.

Although the evidence seems to be pointed at Billy, as soap fans know, odds are the shooter isn’t going to be a major character.  Speculation is that Adam’s former friend Alyssa is the shooter.

Alyssa hasn’t been seen since she and Billy published that article revealing all of Adam’s crimes. Alyssa has every right to be mad at Adam because he’s responsible for the death of her father.

Although Adam was a kid when he accidentally killed AJ Montalvo (Marcus DeAnda) in self-defense, she holds a grudge against her childhood pal.  Feeling that Adam’s never paid for his crimes, she decided to take matters into her own hands.  Since Adam took away her father, she’s going to take Adam away from everyone he loves.

Alyssa’s plan to kill Adam hit a snag when Chance intervened and accidentally got shot.  To cover her tracks, Alyssa is making it look like Billy’s the one responsible for the shooting.  Alyssa framing Billy seems odd since the two formed a partnership based on their hatred of Adam.

One possible reason is due to panic. Upon realizing her fatal flaw in her plan, Alyssa knew she’d be in trouble. She quickly covered the tracks, and hoped the police would zone in on Billy as the prime suspect.

Another reason Alyssa could be framing Billy is due to negativity from her article. In the past, it was implied that Alyssa’s dad was an upstanding citizen.

In fact, Adam killed AJ in self-defense when he was trying to attack Adam’s mother Hope Wilson (Signy Coleman).

Odds are there were plenty of other secrets in AJ’s past. Although Alyssa’s article paints AJ has a good guy, the publicity could’ve brought about more dark secrets from the Montalvo family.

With her and her father’s reputation ruined thanks to the article, Alyssa could’ve decided to take down the two men she holds responsible: Adam and Billy.
