Adam went to the Ranch to speak directly with his dad. He told Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) the news as a courtesy on the Young and the Restless.
He assumed his estranged father would be angered by the new job. But Adam did not want Victor to be surprised by it.
The Young And The Restless Spoilers – The Proactive Approach In Genoa City
Adam held no illusions. He was prepared for the talk with his father to become contentious. It did, but at least their chat was not protracted.
Jabot has never been a legitimate rival of Newman Enterprises. The battle between the company John Abbott (Jerry Douglas) founded and Victor’s famous corporation, has historically been between Y&R’s leading men.
Jack took to Adam because he empathized with him, seeing that Victor treated his son horribly. The similarities between the brutality both men endured at Victor’s hands, some of which were exaggerated by Jack and Adam, helped their friendship form.
Y&R Spoilers – Why Adam Newman Took The Job
Adam was unable to get through to Victor. While trying to impress that he has changed course, Adam’s recent slip-back caused Victor to again doubt his youngest son’s true intentions.
No one can blame Victor for being suspicious of Adam and then taking a job where he will be on equal footing with, of all people, Similin’ Jack. However, Adam’s counterpoint at the Ranch is meaningful.
Adam is right when saying he is taking a step similar to his late mother’s. Hope Newman (Signy Coleman) left the bright lights of Genoa City, Wisconsin behind. She did not feel Victor’s world was right for her or her son, returned to her farm in Kansas, and eventually married Cliff Wilson (David Cowgill), who became Adam’s stepfather.
The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Jack Abbott Can Not Take The Bait
Victor will likely not let Adam’s move go. He will have conversations with Jack and potentially encourage Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) to engage Jabot if it is to Newman Enterprises’ benefit.
Victoria would like nothing better than to school Adam. Doing that by using the position she retained, much to her youngest brother’s chagrin, would be a twofer. Get Adam, and please dad.
Jack battled with Victor since before all his children were born. He, more than anyone, should know not to take any bait on Y&R.

I really enjoyed Jack and Victors drink together. It was nice to watch these two fathers and grandfather’s share a mature and now common understanding and need to take care of their family and friends. I don’t want to see these two mature men reduced back to fighting. Instead it would be more interesting to watch them trying to deter their children from wasting their lives making the same mistakes Victor and Jack have made. Perhaps trying to prevent a business and family war between Adam and Victoria and their dragging Jabot, Newman and their families in conflict. It would be interesting and fresh for example to see Summer and Nick side with Adam, whilst Nikki and Kyle side with Victoria.
