Playing John Abbott
The Young and the Restless spoilers reveal that not too long ago, Jack was thinking about his lonely life and John Abbott was mentioned. At the time, Bergman explained that Jack has made a lot of mistakes in life and is now in John’s place as the patriarch of the Abbott family. That interview brought Douglas’ name up in conversations in soap forums and on social media.
Due to John being such a fan-favorite character in Y&R’s history, it would be nice for the soap to air a tribute episode. However, we will have to see if that happens or not.

The CBS soap was not the only project attached to Douglas’ name. The actor is also credited with appearing in The Final Show, Cold Case, Melrose Place, Mommie Dearest, Barnaby Jones, The Rockford Files, The Incredible Hulk, The Streets of San Francisco, Bonanza, The Bionic Woman, Mission: Impossible and many more. R.I.P Jerry Douglas
R. I. P. Jerry Douglas. Enjoyed watching you play John Abbott on Y&R. You did your best to keep Jack straight. Not an easy task. Also enjoyed your conversations with “Jack” after your passing on the show. Rest In Peace.
I never knew there were any other actors who played John Abbott! Jerry was IT! The best! He is so missed…
They always used to have the “famous” Abbott breakfasts – Scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon etc , in the fancy silver trays in the side buffet in the dining room.
It would have been fun to have been invited !! .
Maybe the show can have the Abbotts – Traci, Ashley and Jack maybe Dina (Marla Adams) gather and show the bloopers of the scenes at breakfast and other scenes !!
Yes.
R. I. P. Jerry. Jerry was always a gentlemen and loved.
I am so sorry to hear of Jerry's Passing. He Will Be Miss. I Will keep his Family and Friends in my Prayers. R.I.P.
