The Young and the Restless spoilers document that even though he can’t see it, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) arguably provoked Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) into retaliating against him. While the attempt to remove Kyle from the co-Chief Executive Officer’s position at Jabot isn’t justified, especially using the methods he’s employing, Theo’s motivation can be understood.

As Y&R fans recall, Theo and Kyle are said to have gotten to know each other when they were living in New York. Unattached from marital, or even serious ties to any woman, both later to be realized cousins dove into the party culture with reckless abandon.

Barlow’s character was someone that Kyle wanted to forget. He and Theo were partying with her in New York, she became inebriated, and they decided to drop her at a hospital. Now, years later, she joined Theo in seeking revenge on the day of Kola’s wedding.

The plan to upend Kyle and Lola Rosales’ (Sasha Calle) wedding failed. But Zoe persisted, as she spiked the punch bowls at the Grand Phoenix Hotel opening. That landed her in jail and Theo recalculated.

A recent conversation with Kendra (no character’s last name or actor’s name is known) at Jabot gave Theo a new opportunity. He’s using her shared loathing of Kyle to his advantage in asking this Jabot employee to gather any corporate information that can be used against his cousin.

Theo sees Kyle as a cliche. His realized is entitled.

But Lola noticed a class difference when first becoming involved with Mealor’s character. The difference of views over the purse gift appeared to be an issue that they could work through and did. The difference with Theo is that Kyle treats him in a starkly different way than Lola, who was seen as new love.

In time, Kyle came to realize that Lola was his second choice after Summer Newman (Hunter King). Theo hardened his opinion about Kyle’s relationship interests long before that.

All that Theo says about Kyle could bear out. But Johnson’s alter ego would still be in the wrong, not Kyle. The problem with Theo’s outlook is that he’s set himself up as the judge over Kyle’s life.

Theo has deemed himself the expert on all things Kyle. Deciding that he’s living wrong, Theo plans to right him.

Dina Mergeron’s (Marla Adams) grandsons posses equally large take on themselves. Neither can see that they are similar to each other, despite their differing personal backstories. That makes this personality clash real and fully fit for the daytime.
