Ian Ward Used Mariah Copeland
Mariah was stolen at birth and raised by Ian Ward (Ray Wise) in a cult. Mariah had no idea that she had a sister, Cassie Newman (Camryn Grimes) or a family who would have opened their arms to her.
Instead, Ian raised Mariah as his daughter and planned to marry her. Ian also weaponized Mariah against Sharon Newman (Sharon Case), her biological mother.
Mariah showed the depths of her abuse when she stole from her fiance’s boss and then slept with him to keep him from pressing charges. Mariah was also behind gaslighting Sharon after she kept appearing to her as Cassie’s ghost.

Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) tried to run Mariah out of town, but she didn’t let that happen. Eventually, Mariah finally told Sharon the truth.
Time In Ian Ward’s Cult Affected Mariah Negatively
Time with Ian certainly had it’s affect on Mariah. It seems that the affects are just now catching up with her since Ian targeted her family once again.
Mariah blames herself for everything that happened to her mother considering that she almost died at the hands of Ian and Jordan Howard (Colleen Zenk). Not to mention that Sharon was also framed for murder.
Has Mariah decided that it is her turn to protect her mother and any other women who are subject to being taking advantage of by men like Ian?

Is Mariah on a mission to rid the world of men who prey on innocent young girls and put them into cult forcing them to act this way? Can Mariah get by with the crimes she has already committed because of this?
Mariah Copeland Has Turned Vigilante
Mariah may not have intentionally turned into some kind of vigilante, however, she may feel better knowing that she has taken down someone like Ian.
Ian is already dead but there are plenty of other men out there like him. Could Mariah have appointed herself judge and jury? Perhaps Mariah wants to rid the world of such users.
Mariah has already killed once and Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) rejecting her attempts to reunite may push her even further.
Mariah could decide to hunt the hunter and get rid of as many of these men that she can. Will Mariah turn into a serial killer due to Ian and continue to search out preditors so they cannot go after anyone else?
