A money trail to a nondescript radio station still left room for doubt. But Nate’s dig into Ashland’s medical records gives Victoria more than she can rationalize.
If Victoria drops her support of Ashland, it is fair to assume that Newman’s character will go off the rails.

Nate can not practice the form of medicine that fits his training. An attack by his cousin, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James), led to emergency surgery.
Being unable to perform as a surgeon did not freeze Nate’s ability to reason. So, when thinking about what Ashland told him in the past, Nate acted with precision.
Seeing no sign of cancer on Ashland’s X-Rays and finding no record of chemotherapy treatments means that he has lied about having cancer. Along with that, Ashland’s reaction to Nate’s blunt statements was telling.
Y&R Spoilers – Threatening His Best Man
It always felt weird that Ashland asked Nate to be the best man at his wedding to Victoria. A look back at that play shows that it was all an act.
Ashland wanted to secure a doctor as his confidant. Nate fits the bill due to his professional resume and because he has the Newman family’s trust.
An innocent man would have replied with anger to Nate. Ashland told his supposed friend that he acted illegally, could have his medical license pulled, and told Nate to seriously consider how he will handle what he knows.
If Ashland could produce records proving he had cancer, there would have been no reason for him to act like that toward Nate. But he did.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Victoria Newman Locke’s Importance
Victoria told her brother that she is not sure what to believe. While Heinle’s character is super savvy, she is also a human being who is in love.
She must be exceptionally cautious when dealing with him now. But how can someone handle a spouse who has lied about something so monumental?
Unless there is a stunner reveal, where Ashland’s claims about being set up are proven true, Victoria is the one person who he will be leaning on to hold his cover. If he concludes that she disbelieves him, there is no telling what the Lockeness Monster will do on Y&R.

It's unpleasant to say but Victoria had it coming. Had Victoria not been on her big power trip with the big executive, powerful, daddy like husband she might have noticed what was actually going on. A good story would be for Victoria to go over and flashback her situations with her husband and realize every time she was focused on screwing over Adam, Billy and even her father Ashland slyly slipped in his agendas. Victoria needs to realize her jealousy, hatred of Adam and greedy actions when it came to Newman has been what has enabled Ashland to con her. Her character has become too brittle and spiteful leaving many fans to now dislike her. Victoria's redemption with many fans lies in a good dose of humility and soul searching. At the moment everyday life is exhausting enough with real life evil doers in this world, I wouldn't want to see a fan favorite like Victoria permanently identified with real people in this world who many of us wish would get their comeuppance.
