Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) is infuriated because he and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) appeared to have reached an agreement. But Adam had the top, temporary spot snatched from him after an inopportune cell phone call from his brother usurped the much-desired opportunity.
Of course, Adam’s reaction is shaped by his perception of the past. He sees himself as the outsider, with Nick being the golden boy.
The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Confidence Not Exactly Inspired
The fact that the Moustache is no longer capable of handling day-to-day duties at the company he founded, by first selling soap out of the back of his car, is rather sobering in and of itself. Longtime Y&R fans, along with all fictional characters in Genoa City, Wisconsin, know that the passing of the guard has occurred.
Victor told Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) that Nick was his first choice to handle Vickie’s job. However, he was intending to let Adam take over until Nick called.
Nick’s initial refusal to step up, followed by Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) persuasive argument that he does so doesn’t inspire confidence that all will go smoothly. Reluctance, as compared to Adam’s eagerness to prove himself to his father, certainly isn’t inspiring.
Y&R Spoilers – Vickie Newman Will Be Back
Vickie Newman (Amelia Heinle) is Niktor’s first-born. She asserted her desire to lead the company last year, which brought joy to Victor’s heart. She’s his first-born child who, along with her brother, Nick, and sister, Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway), are seen as receiving preferential treatment from dear old dad.
Adam made it clear that he was only looking to fill in while Vickie was recovering from the stab wound Ripley Turner (Christian Keyes) inflicted on her. Victor was uneasy about putting Adam in charge, even if just into the spring, based on the past and recent history of malice between them.
But this appeared to be an ideal situation, where Adam could demonstrate his sincerity in reproving himself. Victor seemed to agree and then the script was changed.
The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Nick Newman’s History Checkered
Two negative points can’t be denied. Nick has come and gone at Newman Enterprises through the years because the corporate life isn’t one that matches his personality type. More importantly, he, like Adam, has intentionally wronged his father.
Adam’s ideas about family were shaped by his own history, which is dissimilar to the shared background Nick, Vickie, and Abby share. To see Victor’s choice of Nick as a setup is wrong, as it wasn’t. But it’s also understandable because that’s Adam’s perspective, which reflects the life he’s lived.
Here’s hoping that Victor persists in his efforts to have a relationship with his second-born son. But Adam will also need to give an inch in order for progress to be made and sustained.
