Reconnecting with Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) reestablishes a loved one. The one-time ‘Phick’ appears to be back on now that the formerly married couple is engaging in modern romance.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Recast Set Stage For Phoenix’ Rise

Gina Tognoni (Phyllis) is a three-time Daytime Emmy Award winner. She took the prize for playing the iconic Phyllis character on Y&R in 2017. Fans were surprised last year when the show announced that Tognoni’s contract wasn’t being renewed and that the original ‘Red’, Stafford, was returning to the cast.

Stafford’s version of this persona was different than the more vulnerable, softer Phyllis that fans saw during Tognoni’s run (2014-2019). It makes sense that the writing staff would mix reality with the storyline in having Phyllis think of herself as rising from the ashes like a phoenix.

Since first reappearing in Las Vegas, Nevada, Stafford’s Phyllis has been intent on reestablishing who she is. Her vision is one of reclaiming what was perceived as lost, which includes her relationship with Nick.

Y&R Spoilers – Nick Newman’s Significance Can’t Be Understated

While she is a force unto herself, Phyllis wants what everyone in GC does, love. The end of a reforming ‘Phick’ last spring, when Tognoni was still playing Phyllis, appeared to signal a shift. Nick kicked her out and that appeared to be that.

However, Stafford’s Phyllis began to work for Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) at Dark Horse. She procured numerous properties that Nick initially bought to poke his father and sold them to Newman Enterprises’ acting head, Vickie Newman (Amelia Heinle).

Phyllis then gleefully told Nick what she’d done. He was impressed and that helped to grease the skid back to what has become a ‘Phick’ reboot.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Power In-Play This Time Around

Yes, Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) has currently bested Phyllis with the maneuver she just pulled, when selling out of the Grand Phoenix hotel and planning to build a rival across the street. But that situation will likely prove temporary, as Phyllis always responds to any setback.

The idea of being a hotelier can’t be Phyllis’ endgame. She wants to use that property as a base to launch other grabs for power. The purpose of the Phoenix has to follow the open intention of carving a permanent niche in this Midwestern city.

Having the father of her daughter, Summer Newman (Hunter King), allows Phyllis to run with someone who she not only loves but also considers to be her fellow gamer. Nick now has Phyllis’ back, which will allow ‘Red’ to look ahead.

Why does Nick fall in love with any woman he sleeps with? I don’t want to see him with Phyllis. He says ‘This can’t happen’ but it does within about 2 minutes of him saying that. Now they are all lovey dovey again. Nick stop this – grow up to be a man and try being on your own for awhile. It does a body good.
