The Young and The Restless spoilers and updates tease in this week’s Soap Opera Digest that Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) will have a surprising visitor. Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) shows up after returning from her trip to Baltimore.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Surprise, Surprise
When Elena left, the last conversation she had with Nate didn’t go so well, so he is shocked to see that she’s returned and apparently wants to talk. It seems the time away has allowed her to gain a new perspective on the situation and Nate is surprised to see her since he thought she was gone for good. Elena had left to interview for a new position, having told Nate that she had a great job offer at a hospital there and it was practically in the bag.
But Elena has put too much time and heart into the relationship she has had with Nate, and she has decided she didn’t want to throw all that away. Before she leaves for good, she wants to make sure she has exhausted all efforts for reconciliation and so she didn’t take the job and meets with Nate to that end.

Elena and Nate talk about where they are at with each other and she tells him that she didn’t take the job because she wanted to see if reconciliation is possible. She wants to know if Nate has realized the gravity of his actions and is ready to take full responsibility for them, referring to his coup at work. But Nate informs her that he is no longer at Chancellor-Winters and instead has taken the position of Chief Executive Officer at Newman Media. That gives Elena pause, and she has to think twice about whether she wants to reconcile since she equates this job with Nate’s deceptiveness and what his accepting it means. Elena was once friends with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) but has been deeply disappointed to find out she’s as cutthroat as the rest of her family, which Elena despises.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – A Fork In The Road
Elena and Nate are definitely at a fork in the road of their relationship, because Nate becomes frustrated at her disapproval of his taking the CEO position. He then reminds her that he realizes it was wrong to use underhanded tactics and adds he’s gone to Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) and Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) for forgiveness. But Elena is not backing him in his choice of career because to her, it is a corrupt path that only proves he doesn’t have integrity.
Elena eschews any form of big business but in particular anything to do with the Newman family, all of whom she considers to be corrupt. Nate is being forced to choose between his new career and Elena’s ultra-altruistic opinions, and it may not work out for them.
