The most recent time Sharon and Nick experienced a remarriage fail was cruel, as the audience was led to believe it would happen. But that is part of the soapy life, as heartstrings are meant to be tugged or even ripped to create the unexpected.

Repairing Sharon and Nick would be a momentous event that would likely be preceded by something shocking. Rey’s death in the prime of his life, happening while he and Sharon were happily married, would qualify as extremely dramatic.

Y&R Spoilers – Was Rey Rosales A Place-Holder?

Vilasuso is a strong actor whose resume goes well beyond Y&R. Case ranks on a shortlist of this show’s best actors since she joined the cast in 1994.

So, neither actor is being chided for what felt like a tepid connection between Rey and Sharon. Did they love each other? Yes. But did they rate with the most compelling couplings on the show? No.

The above is not Vilasuso or Case’s fault, as they could only work with what was on the page. The cancer scare was the meatiest arc Vilasuso and Case worked. Some other storylines, including the ones that involved Adam Newman (Mark Grossman), were okay.

All the best to Vilasuso moving forward. He was a consistent, likable performer who made Rey real and believable.

The subject header is no small question to ask. Y&R’s writing staff has surely pondered the many angles of implication because the original run of Sharon and Nick places that couple with the great pairings in this iconic soap’s history.

While the past stands on its own, it can be challenging to revive what was a very popular couple in modern times.

A compelling situation must be presented to credibly reignite their love. Then, a string of strong adventures, not just conflicts, must be provided so that old-school and newer viewers root for the newest version of this couple to live dynamically and love each other with all their hearts again.
