The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Sean Carrigan is once again off the canvas as Ben “Stitch” Rayburn. The demented doc left town a fugitive from justice after kidnapping Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and leading his ex Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) down a one way path of obsession.

Stitch came back to Genoa City, Wisconsin for a party and ended up staying long enough to upend Abby’s life and potentially thwart her newfound happiness as a mom. Carrigan recently talked to Soap Opera Digest about his character’s evolution from good guy to bad guy and we have the deets for you here.

Carrigan can still see the good in Stitch even though he committed a heinous act. Poor Mariah was forced to give birth in a cramped little room decorated in 70s décor, and although she and the baby survived, fans will see that Mariah is not all right.

Carrigan said of Stitch, “I see him more as emotionally damaged and looking for a lifeline, not knowing what that is and how to find it.” He added, “He’s lost, he’s hurt and he feels that he’s failed in a lot of ways as a father and a husband.”

Y&R Spoilers – Stitch Was Once A Good Guy

He is referring to Stitch’s past with Abby, in which his unstable son caused her to miscarry the baby she was expecting with Stitch. Carrigan may be able to understand Stitch’s motivation in kidnapping Mariah and deceiving Abby, but he better hope Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) never catches up to him—The Mustache is seething mad at the moment.

Carrigan also acknowledges that the audience may not fully grasp why Stitch went off the deep end, saying fans were probably, “scratching their heads,” over Stitch’s radical turn in character.

Not surprisingly, Carrigan says that he is looking forward to the day when he can return to redeem his character. “I feel there’s still some unfinished stories to tell with Stitch,” he says, “I’ll always answer the call,” should TPTB want to bring him back.
