Case joined the cast of Y&R in 1994. She established her place in the show’s history during the Sharon and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) era, which was shattered when Mariah’s identical twin sister, Cassie Newman (Grimes), died after suffering traumatic injuries in a car accident.
In more recent years, Case’s character was developed through a chaotic period, where the actor’s range was on full display, to her matriarchal position. She is GC’s resident therapist through her degree and place as Crimson Lights’ owner.
The Young And The Restless Spoilers – There Was Room At Sharon Rosales’ Inn
Coffee is the specialty at Crimson Lights, with other light beverages and tasty treats available. Though what is mostly on the menu is verbal therapy.
Mariah and Tessa arrived at the coffee house a bit late. Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) handled the bulk of the volunteer duties, as Sharon’s annual tradition of helping the less fortunate involved labor-intensive work.
The audience soon realized the real labor would play out through a visitor to Sharon’s Inn. A young woman, pregnant on Christmas with no place to go, banged her car in the Wisconsin snow. A wink toward the two-thousand-plus-year-old Bethlehem retelling was obvious.
Y&R Spoilers – Mariah Copeland And Tessa Porter’s Shared Dream
It was a good creative choice to have Mariah and Tessa share a dream. They referred to it as a psychic connection.
The realism of the dream sequence was revealed mid-episode, with Mariah and Tessa realizing that they experienced something that had meaning.
Their arrival at Crimson Lights, where Sharon and Noah were present, was the real deal. The phone call from the expectant mother was a Christmas gift, which followed Mariah and Tessa arranging the Nativity scene days earlier.
The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Projecting The Christmas Spirit Year-Round
Sharon has matured. That process was ongoing when Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) was alive. It remains regrettable that TPTB wrote this character out of the show. But those types of decisions are understood as part of the genre.
Crimson Lights represents one of Y&R’s familiar, comfortable settings where family, friends, and strangers, who become new friends, gather. Sharon’s place in the business where she and Nick spent time together in high school and once owned the facility is crucial to the ebb and flow of GC.
Kudos to Y&R for its special Christmas episode edition. It was a memorable take on the holy day that allowed fans to celebrate all that is great about the soap world.
