Ashland sits on the board of the re-branded communications company, Newman media. That gives him some insight into Victor and Adam’s motivations.

Victoria is aware that Ashland is divorcing his wife. With that knowledge, Heinle’s character is now open to more frequent conversations, dinner, and the potential start of a true romantic relationship.

Victor is keeping his distance from Newman Enterprises, as Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) recently pointed out. Victoria yelled at him in the recent past, forbidding her father from being at the company that he built, formed into an empire, and then allowed her to take over within the last year.

All who know the Moustache understand that Victoria only believes that she’s calling the shots. Victor is allowing her to run the show while he’s busying himself with the Newman Media side project.

So, Victoria is calling the shots for now. One includes allowing Ashland to believe he’s pursuing her. But as with all things Newman, she controls that game and will determine whether her nickname is adapted to include a connection with the Lockeness Monster.
