Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) is determined to force Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) out of Genoa City, Wisconsin. That effort is currently veering toward failure because Diane’s son and the father of her child back her.
Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) loves his mother and is the main reason she has been able to pursue redemption in GC. Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) does not trust Diane but sees signs that she is trying to be a better person.
The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Phyllis Summers Goes Off
Phyllis was shocked when Jack admitted that his feelings for her persisted through present day. That happened in the Abbott mansion’s living room while she was still committed to Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow).
Viewers were aware that Nick’s sudden ending of his connection to Phyllis reflected TPTB wanting to write Stafford and Bergman’s characters back to some form of connection. That happened but proved to be short-lived.
Diane’s reveal as never having been killed in self-defense by Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) ignited Phyllis’ rage. According to the Young and the Restless spoilers, Diane’s reemergence changed Phyllis’ options and Jack’s outlook.
Y&R Spoilers – Summer Newman Abbott In The Middle
Summer occupies the middle section header in this feature, which is intentionally reflective of her position. Lanier’s character must support her husband while also being her mother’s defender.
An initial truce was agreed to in the recent past where Diane and Phyllis made verbal claims. Diane knew she was in a better spot than Phyllis. So, going along with Summer’s brokered agreement was a no-brainer.
But Phyllis’ comments appeared forced through the facade of her perfect smile. She never intended to back off Diane but to recoil and recalculate.
The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Diane Jenkins Goes Slow And Steady
Diane has Kyle back. She has developed a good relationship with Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez). Jack is warming to her as well.
What incentive does Diane have to change course? None, and she has every reason to reject the bait that Phyllis increasingly offers.
The slow and steady approach Diane is taking has worked. Meanwhile, Phyllis and others know they need to implement new strategies in hopes of making her go away.
Summer continues to avoid choosing sides. But she might simply be deferring a decision that will eventually be made on Y&R.
