The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Time Jump In Genoa City When New Episodes Return?

Production is currently shutdown on CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’. So, scenes that will comprise the next new episode won’t be recorded until Y&R’s cast and crew is able to safely return to work.

A creative choice exists for those who are in charge. Will the show resume at the exact point where it left off, or will a time jump be incorporated in the script?

CBS The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Restarting Where Y&R Left Off

If Y&R decides to proceed as it would during a normal break in production, then whatever scripts were written prior to the shutdown will be used. In that instance, viewers would see what happens during the hypothetical next day, which followed the last new episode that was shown in April.

Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) cancer storyline will resume with her having a less invasive surgery than was feared. She wasn’t out of danger at that point in the storyline, but some optimism was plausible.

Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) were emotionally comforting each other at the Ranch in the living room of the main house. They were dealing with the immediate aftereffects of Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) learning that he killed Alyssa Montalvo’s (Maria DiDomenico) father.

Of course, the above issues are only a sampling of many that were developing when the last new show was broadcast.

Young And The Restless Spoilers – Time Jump Includes Reality?

Along with wherever the characters referenced above would be in a time jump, there are plenty of other Genoa City, Wisconsin, residents whose lives could advance in intriguing ways.

When last seen, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil), Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson), and Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) just entered a business agreement. Morgan’s newest persona agreed to serve as legal counsel for Chancellor Industries’ new media division.

Advancing the timeline would reveal if Lily and, or Amanda chose to become involved with Billy, as that’s a far more engaging topic than however, CI’s business flows. And how would those personal developments have changed the lives of Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic), Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy), and Devon Hamilton (Bryton James)?

Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) appeared ready to give birth, with Hendrickson having done so in real life at the end of March. So, Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) and Chloe were set to welcome their second child into the world. A time jump would allow the baby to be month’s old.

Young And The Restless Spoilers – Decision Will Be Impactful

A reference to the virus could still be included through revised scripts if Y&R chooses to pick up exactly where it left off. Assuming a time jump happens, the real-life issue could also be worked into the scripts.

Deciding to directly address reality is something that would surely create a varied reaction, as an unknown number of viewers watch soaps as a form of escapist entertainment. With whatever choices are made, here’s hoping that production will be able to resume in the near future.

I really hope the writers have been putting this down time to good use. They should be using this time to video conference and discuss these stories that are not working for fans. The Phyllis and Nick boring hookup again! The tedious feud between Victor and Adam and the silly, childish garbage going on with Phyllis and Abby over that dump of a hotel. I would really love to see the show return bringing a swift end to the stories I have just mentioned, replacing them with well thought out, better quality stories, and keeping the integrity of characters and their history.
