The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) terrible ordeal likely would have been far worse if Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) did not involve himself. His pointed advice to Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) was wise, likely preventing Victoria from suffering unknown harm or worse.

Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) went to see Victoria. He wanted her to see his point of view. But Victoria was finished with him and did not care that she changed his outlook on life.

This story line was sad in some ways. Ashland believed he had developed deep feelings for the first time in his life. But the woman who helped him reach that level of awareness was also the one he duped with a cancer lie.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Ashland Locke Was Broken

The many circumstances that led to the Lockeness Monster’s formation proved too much for any person or event to change. Victoria touched his heart after Ashland was implementing his merger plan. That was revealing in retrospect.

Victoria could not bring herself to believe that Ashland could be trusted because of a specific claim he made to her. Ashland continued to assert, until moments before his violent death, that her love changed him.

However, Ashland fell in love with Victoria while the merger plan was being finalized last September. He knew how he felt about her by that time but still went ahead with his plan, believing their connection would overcome his betrayal. That miscalculation proved fatal in more ways than one.

Y&R Spoilers – Billy Abbott Never Trusted Him

Billy sounded the alarm about Ashland since the beginning. Billy did not trust someone with that man’s reputation around their children.

Victoria rationalized all that Ashland did particularly because he was the next man she loved after Billy. That is not a knock against Victoria but rather an explanation of why she willed herself to hope Ashland was becoming a better man.

Thankfully, Billy never turned away from Victoria. Despite his love for Lily Winters (Christel Khalil), Billy will always be protective of Victoria.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Victoria Newman Realizes Deeper Perspective

Victoria was leery of Billy’s intentions for many reasons. History and recently, how he dropped her at the forced end of their most recent relationship.

However, Victoria has realized a deeper perspective. Billy, as was true of some others, was right about Ashland. She also knows that if he had not strongly encouraged Nick to check in on her that night, Victoria, instead of Ashland, could no longer be living in Genoa City, Wisconsin.
