When Ashland proposed, Victoria was surprised. She was also hesitant and needed time to think about her answer. At least, that is what Ashland thinks about her not answering him right away. Going back to that scene, the look on Victoria’s face wasn’t just surprise or uncertainty. She looked a tad worried and downright suspicious.

The Young and the Restless spoilers reveal that Victoria needed time before accepting the proposal. She likely needed a plan on how to protect herself, as well as Newman Enterprises. When Ashland and Victoria tie the knot — if it even gets that far — both of their assets will be tied together unless they have their lawyers keep everything legally separated. Of course, if they do that, then that will make the other ask, “Wait, don’t you trust me?!”

Victoria has to tread carefully. If Ashland is using her, she doesn’t want to risk losing everything. On the other hand, she might really be hoping that Ashland loves her. We are thinking that it’s a combination of both. Ashland can’t give up his plan for revenge but never planned on falling in love, either. So, it will be interesting to see which one wins… love or revenge.

The complication in this is that Newman Enterprises and Locke Communications have merged. Remember, Ashland warned Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) when he was forced to sign the contract while having a heart attack. He not only warned that there would be repercussions but said there would be a lot of tears. It’s possible that Ashland is planning on doing that through Victoria. We also imagine he has some sort of plan for Newman Enterprises.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – ‘Ashtoria’: The Perfect Match

Even though Victoria might be in love, she’s also not a fool. Her eyes are wide open and she’s trying to navigate both her feelings and the possibility that she’s being used. A few weeks ago, Billy confronted Victoria about her getting close to Ashland. Before they were interrupted, Victoria quietly assured him that she had a plan. She can’t let anyone know about it, though, as it risks the chance of Ashland finding out.

We don’t think she has given up that plan she teased Billy. It’s just gotten a bit more complicated because feelings are involved. If anyone can foil Ashland’s scheme while enjoying a passionate romance, it’s Victoria. In the end, Ashland will realize that he’s absolutely met his match in every sense of the word. As a bonus, Victoria is going to make Victor proud.
