Ashland has played off the seal to his deal, where Victor refused to call the paramedics. The agreement was grudgingly signed during the midst of a heart event. Then, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) was given the go-ahead to call for help.

So, Victor’s awareness that Ashland is romantically pursuing his first-born child will surely provoke the classic paternal instinct that Y&R fans are fully familiar with.

Meanwhile, Victor’s awareness of Victoria’s involvement with Ashland winks hard at yet another love interest that Braeden’s character will see as an enemy.

Ashland has emerged as a different type of threat. He’s someone that Victor and Jack could at least commiserate about, if not also work together, in some form, to defeat.
