Jack not only lost Kyle, but Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez) as well. Jack had become very attached to Tara Locke’s (Elizabeth Leiner) son. Now Jack comes home to an empty house, which is really hard for him, especially at this stage in his life.

While drinking too much and thinking about feeling so alone, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) came to see Jack. The Abbott patriarch began thinking about the last time he felt like he was really in love. As Bergman explained to Soap Opera Digest, that was when Jack and Phyllis were together. So, a tipsy Jack blurted out to Phyllis that he was still in love with her after all these years.

It is a decision that Jack regrets and he doesn’t know what to do about it. This is what leads to him having a nightmare that will change everything.

Bergman told SOD that Jack sees Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope). Jack tells her that it’s not his fault that their relationship didn’t work out. Jack also sees Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), who is nearly driven to drink. Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) shows up to chip in his two cents.

Jack also sees Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), who accuses him of betraying their friendship. Nick says that Jack ruined everything by admitting his love to Phyllis. When Jack wakes up, he will realize what he needs to do. He asks to meet someone, saying it’s important they talk. However, Jack isn’t reaching out to Phyllis, but Nick.
