Y&R spoilers reveal that it wasn’t too long ago when Burgi reportedly signed a new one-year contract. When news of that hit, fans were pretty sure that Ashland wasn’t going to die from cancer or pay for his crimes… at least, for a while. So, when Burgi posted on Instagram that he was no longer with the soap, it came as a bit of a surprise.

Later, Burgi clarified his statement and admitted he had been fired. Burgi accidentally violated the soap’s COVID-19 policy. The character was immediately recast with another actor as Ashland was smack in the middle of a huge storyline.

Richard Newman was chosen to replace Burgi as Ashland. Fans have been wondering when the new actor will begin airing as Ashland. Newman shared the information on his Facebook page.

It is teased that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) both confront Ashland during the week of February 7. Plus, Victor is also using Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) to find out the truth about Ashland. After Ashland is backed into a corner by Victor, he makes yet another confession to Victoria.

It seems that it might not be a dealbreaker and “Ashtoria” could stay together a bit longer. However, Victoria might also be playing Ashland just as much as he’s playing her. So, we will have to keep watching the CBS soap to see what happens next.
