The Young and the Restless updates and spoilers tease that Niktor may not have happened if Colonel Douglas Austin (the late Michael Evans) had his way. Last week the CBS soap is airing classic episodes related to Niktor.
In the beginning, Nikki Reed (Melody Thomas Scott) thought she was interviewed for a book by Colonel Austin when in fact he was in on a scheme to hook her up with his good friend Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).
The Colonel was obviously enchanted with the young stripper, as were most men. How different might things have been if Nikki got involved with the military man instead of Victor?
In fact, there are several reasons to think she would have been better off with the older gentleman instead of casting her lot with the mercurial Mr. Mustache.
The Young and the Restless Spoilers – Nikki Reed Wasn’t Always A Proper Lady
In her early days, Nikki was quite pleased to be a stripper at The Bayou. One day she found Victor redecorating her dressing room and he was intrigued by the young blonde. The next thing she knows, she visits a ranch thinking the colonel wants to interview her. Who should show up? Victor, pretending to a servant!
But Nikki takes umbrage when the Colonel appears to be propositioning her, which gives Victor a chance to step in and whisk her off to the stables.
Apparently, whatever transpired there among the dung and flies was enough to convince the great Victor Newman that Nikki was his destiny.
Y&R Updates – Nikki Reed Is Too Clever For Victor Newman
Once in the stables, it’s clear that Nikki is on to Victor and his charade. What if she had decided then and there to ditch Victor, then the man she thought was the servant, and take up with the Colonel?
In fact, Nikki and the Colonel were the better matches, at least on paper. Both had visited the shady side of life and lived to tell the tale. Nikki was a stripper and the Colonel had been a con man. He would never have judged her the way that Victor sometimes seems to do.
The Young and the Restless Spoilers – Niktor Have Had Their Share Of Ups And Downs
The earthy Colonel likely would have let Nikki continue to strip if she wanted to. And, if need be he would have willingly sacrificed his own life for hers–he actually saved Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) from drowning!
Should Nikki have chosen the more down to earth Colonel over lordly Victor? Tell us what you think!

I’m happy with Nikki’s choice of Victor. Only good to consider the road not taken though.
