The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Ashland Locke’s (Richard Burgi) admission that he has a terminal cancer diagnosis surely changes the direction of his storyline. However, modern science and daytime preference can allow the Lockeness Monster to live indefinitely.

It’s fair to insert another alternative, considering the recent bold interaction that Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) had with Ashland. Yes, bold was a reference to Hope’s crossover character from The Bold and the Beautiful.

As fans recall, Sally faked a terminal illness in order to further a scheme on her original soap. Might Ashland be doing the same on Y&R?

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Harrison Locke In Focus

Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez) has only known Ashland as his father. He’s recently been told by his mother, Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner), that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) is his daddy.

Ashland was naturally shocked and angered by Tara’s admission that she’d been with Kyle in New York a number of years ago. The confirmation that Kyle, not Ashland, was Harrison’s biological father has been devastating.

Tara, Kyle, and Summer Newman (Hunter King) were surprised at Ashland’s turnabout. Burgi’s character offered a revised option, after initially demanding that Kyle not be part of Harrison’s life in any shared custody arrangement. Ashland Tara will share custody and Kyle would need to see Harrison during the time he spends with his mother.

Y&R Spoilers – The Diagnosis Is Real

It’s hardly out of the question to believe that Ashland could be lying about or exaggerating his diagnosis, based on this new character’s hyped reputation. However, that would be a stretch for fans of this or both shows to believe.

Having a character that Sally has linked herself to employ the same deceptive strategy would be a stretch. But the suspension of disbelief is an accepted practice in the daytime.

If Ashland truly has learned that he is going to die before this year ends, then a pressured dynamic is now in play.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Victoria Newman Assumes New Role

Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) appeared to be Ashland’s emerging love interest. That still could prove true.

But the dire implications of Ashland’s health might enable a rushed arc, where Victoria becomes a close friend, a defender, or even the next Mrs. Locke. Viewers can imagine the reaction a variety of people, including her parents and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson), would have to those types of developments.

Y&R might be in the process of reaffirming Ashland as diabolical, if he’s not being truthful, or transforming Burgi’s alter ego into a sympathetic figure.

Then again Ashland doesn’t have to die. He could defeat cancer and become less of a stereotyped villain.
