The announcement was made via Instagram on January 7 and included a photo of Jason Canela, down on bended knee, as he proposed to his girlfriend, Janaina Reis, with restaurant patrons smiling and looking on.

In the post, Canela joked by posting a hashtag relating to the Brazilian model, #SheSaidYes. He then went on to admit that she hadn’t officially said yes, but that she wanted to “think about it.” Jason said he was “pretty sure she was joking,” well, at least he hoped she was joking! Many of his former castmates commented to congratulate the couple, along with CBS Daytime head, Angelica McDaniel.

Not long after, another Instagram post by Janaina Reis shared the same romantic image, accompanied by the words, “I love you and YES YES YES a million times,” so yes, she was kidding!

The Young and the Restless News – About Janaina Reis

Janaina was born in Brazil and at the age of 15, she left to pursue a modeling career. She famously walked the catwalk in Milan and appeared in a number of fashion magazine features, including Marie Claire, Vogue, and Glamour. After going on to spend six years in New York City, Janaina arrived in Los Angeles. Besides her modeling career, Reis is a marathon runner and certified Pilates instructor and is fluent in three languages – Portuguese, Spanish and English.

Y&R News – What has Jason Thompson been doing since leaving ‘Y&R?’

Not one to sit on his laurels, so to speak, since leaving the soap, Jason has had a voice role in and is a creative producer of the animated series “Adventures of Kim & Kay,” which was developed by Stratostorm.

Other important work involves being a co-founder of the organization Fallen Heroes United, which raises funds to give surviving children of fallen heroes scholarship opportunities to be able to continue their education.
