According to reports, a casting call has gone out for the contract role of “Derek” and that sounds like the character will be sticking around for a while.

The casting description describes their target actor as being in his “mid-30s. White male, All-American. He’s an incredibly attractive and physically fit leading man. He’s a playful, roguish adventurer. Has seen enough to be jaded but strong enough to remain at heart an optimist. Tough-minded when he needs to be, yet isn’t afraid to show his emotions to get his point across.”

Back in 1989 Ken Olandt played Dereck Stuart. Dereck worked at Jabot and he was found guilty of the date rape of Christine Blair (Lauralee Bell).
Dereck tried to attack Cricket after the verdict and ultimately jumped out of a window to his death in order to avoid going to prison.

And very early on in the show there was a Derek Thurston, who was played by three different actors: Joe La Due, Caleb Stoddard, and Jeff Cooper.
Derek Thurston was a hairdresser and cosmetologist who Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) got Derek drunk and married.
Katherine was later poisoned and she was believed dead leading Derek to think he’d inherited her fortune. But when he decided to marry Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) a very-much-alive Katherine showed up to reclaim her fortune and Derek.
