The Young and the Restless Spoilers Thursday, August 16: Cane’s Reality Check – Summer Calls Phyllis A Hypocrite – Nick Offers Summer Money For Silence

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers for Thursday, August 16, 2018, reveals, Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) denies having an affair as Summer (Hunter King) says the only reason Billy (Jason Thompson) is committed to her is because he doesn’t know the truth.

Lily Tells Cane To Face Reality

Cane (Daniel Goddard) brings lunch to Lily (Christel Khalil), who has a lot to do before sentencing and if he really wants to help, he needs to get his head out of the sand and start acting like this is real.

Lily begs Cane to record everything for her, like Sam’s first words and steps. She wants Cane to tell the kids how proud she is of them and that he will bring them often to visit her in prison. Cane tries to reassure her and not give up hope. Lily insists they need to prepare. As Cane is comforting her, Devon (Bryton James) walks into the office.

Nick Asks Mariah For A Private Chat

Nick (Joshua Morrow) greets Mariah (Camryn Grimes) on the rooftop, saying he got them a table and they are due for a private chat. Summer tells her mother to stop acting like a victim, and to tell her the truth. She admits it was Kyle (Michael Mealor) who knew what happened, but had no idea who. Summer reveals she knows it wasn’t Jack (Peter Bergman), but Nick that she slept with.

Nick thanks Mariah for everything she has done for this wedding as Mariah admits Hilary (Mishael Morgan) changed her views. She teases about all the “fence sitters” on Nick’s side of the family, but Nick defends Summer asking Mariah to cut her some slack.

Summer Calls Phyllis A Hypocrite

Phyllis says she feels guilty, but won’t hurt Billy for a one-night mistake. Summer calls her out on a being a hypocrite, saying Phyllis is a cheater – the urge is inside her just as much as the gambling is inside Billy. Summer throws all of Phyllis’ past relationships and affairs, saying she is so screwed up because of her role model mother! Summer feels she might be the real hypocrite because she wouldn’t exist if Phyllis hadn’t gotten Nick to cheat on Sharon (Sharon Case).

Phyllis is willing to tell Summer everything, admitting she loves Nick but only as friends. Summer feels there is unresolved feelings, but Phyllis says both her and Nick vowed to move on from their mutual mistake. Summer says she can’t do that as Phyllis says if she wants to do what’s best for Billy, she will remain quiet. Summer says both Billy and Sharon deserve to be told, so it’s out in the open; she leaves to talk to Billy and Phyllis chases after her.

Gloria Stands Guard For Billy

Gloria (Judith Chapman) refuses to let neither Phyllis nor Summer in to see Billy, as he is in meetings and can’t be disturbed. Phyllis barges into Billy’s office, finding it empty; they both sit down refusing to leave. Gloria tells them this is a private office, not a coin laundry; calling them disrespectful.

Phyllis Does Not Understand Why Her and Summer Are On Different Sides

Phyllis doesn’t understand how her and Summer ended up on opposing sides. Summer says she has changed and being gone for a whole year gave her perspective on who she is as a person; deciding she wasn’t a victim

Summer tells Phyllis she isn’t falling for her manipulation, and the only reason Phyllis wants her to remain silent is for her own benefit. They are interrupted by Gloria who informs them Billy won’t be back any time soon and remaining there would be futile. When Gloria leaves, she needs Summer to forgive her. Summer makes a deal, saying if Phyllis and Billy can survive this, she will give all four of them her blessing. Outside the office, Phyllis bribes Gloria with a fabulous spa day, if she promises to keep Summer in Billy’s office and to call her the second she hears from him. Phyllis reveals she is leaving because she needs backup.

Phyllis Tells Nick Summer Knows Their Secret

Nick is concerned about Mariah planning the bridal shower when Phyllis needs to steal him away. After Mariah leaves, Phyllis shares that Summer knows their secret and it won’t remain one much longer. Phyllis reveals Summer is more upset than she ever thought she could be. Nick is sure there is something going on with Summer, Phyllis agrees and feels there could be something much bigger going on with Summer, suggesting Summer might want Billy for herself. Nick is in utter shock, shaking his head, positive that isn’t the case. Nick promises to talk to Summer and will get her to change her mind.

Lily Wants To Talk To Devon

Lily tells Devon, she only came in because she thought he was working form home. Cane doesn’t want to leave Lily alone with her brother but she needs to talk to him alone. Lily brings Devon coffee, wanting to say a few things. She isn’t trying to have a pity party, but he is her brother and he cares about her family as her kids will need all the support they can get, including from him. Devon packs up his papers to leave, disappointing Lily who thought he was in a better frame of mind today. Lily begs him not to go and she misses him so much, he pauses at the door looking at her before he leaves.

Nick Asks Billy To Listen To His Side

Nick comes to Jabot to see Summer. Gloria sarcastically tells him that Summer works at Fenmore’s and isn’t sure Summer is aware of that. She seems a bit aggravated that she is being Summer’s personal secretary and is obligated to watch over Summer, as per her promise to Phyllis. Nick sweetens the deal, telling Gloria she will have a spa weekend paid by him and Nick; she happily leaves him to his daughter.

Nick tells Summer she should be happy its him and not Billy walking into the office, as she would be destroying five people’s lives, including hers. Nick isn’t angry but freaked out that she didn’t come to him and they are going to clear this up right now. He reminds her that Billy and Sharon are completely blameless in this and asks if she is willing to listen to his side of the story.

Phyllis sits at home, texting Billy about how much she misses him. Nick says him and Phyllis are trying to move forward after their mistake; but Summer doesn’t think its a minor mistake. Nick feels it is on them but they don’t understand how Summer is using this against her parents. She wants him to be happy and that means marrying Sharon and if she reveals the truth, losing Sharon will bring a heartbreak he won’t get over. Summer says if they both have epic romances happening, they never would have hooked up with each other.

Nick Offers Summer A Check To Keep Quiet

Nick wants Summer to think about Faith and how she will feel when she learns Summer took her happy family away from her. Nick hoped he could tell the truth and appeal to her as a loving daughter but obviously they don’t have that kind of relationship any more. He feels there is only one thing she will listen to now. He writes her a check, asking if that is enough for her to keep this secret!
