The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that we’ll see more Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) in the coming weeks. But the actor who plays Victor took to Twitter today to clear up the rumor that he was leaving the CBS daytime drama.

It seems like this rumor resurfaces every few years, at least. Every time Braeden goes on hiatus, the rumor mill speculates that Victor could be leaving the show. Rest assured, Eric told his fans that’s not happening, and he isn’t going anywhere.

Braeden never lets rumors of his exit go unaddressed. Like all the other times, Braeden turned to Twitter to set the record straight about his alleged departure from Y&R.

“Please don’t fall for someone’s rumor that I have been written off. If that were the case, I’d tell you myself –trust me!” Braeden tweeted. The Y&R actor added that he hopes to stay on the show as long as possible, just like the beloved Jeanne Cooper.

Believe it or not, the rumor is an old one. It came from a 2009 article. At that time, Braeden was in contract negotiations, and the speculation was that he would retire if CBS didn’t honor his demands.

A Twitter user named @Momcapade tweeted out the 2009 article, not realizing it wasn’t current news. She immediately regretted not fact-checking the scoop before sending it out to her followers. It was an honest mistake, but for some viewers, it caused a short panic attack.

“Oh my. I tagged @Ebraeden in a tweet regarding headlines from 2009! Sorry, the date didn’t get posted. Didn’t mean to cause a stir. We love #VictorNewman on Y&R and there isn’t a show without him. I’ve watched since I was a little girl,” Momcapade tweeted.

It’s clear that she didn’t mean to ruffle any feather about a decades old rumor. It’s unfortunate that she didn’t check the date on the article. If she would have, she would not have shared it.
