Meanwhile, Alan Laurent (Christopher Cousins) tells Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) that her alters are protecting her. However, the fact that they exist at all is a whole new problem, which makes Ashhley wonder what the alters are protecting her from.

Alan explains to Ashley that her personalities think they are doing the right thing. Alan adds that Ashley’s alters believe they are protecting her. 

That is when Ashley sits up intrigued as well as alarmed. As Ashley pays closer attention, Alan drops another bombshell.

Alan tells Ashley that the fact the multiple personalities exist in the first place means something is terribly wrong. That is when Ashely wonders out loud what they are protecting her from.
