The Young and the Restless (YR) Poll: What Fate Will J.T. Hellstrom Meet?

J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) is bound to face serious consequences for his actions on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But what fate will he meet?

Speculation about this character dying appears to be steeped in Luckinbill having advised, upon his return to the cast last year, that J.T.’s storyline could only last through February, or March 2018. Mr. Hellstrom is still with us as of the last week in the year’s third month. However, viewer speculation about his demise is founded in storyline facts.

A flashback was shown to the audience awhile ago. In it Luckinbill, during his initial Y&R run, was shown working a scene where his character was electrocuted. J.T.’s resultant heart issues were presented as a health condition that’s being managed through prescription medication. That plot point established the potential of a looming tragedy.

The sudden mood swings J.T. fell into in the last month-plus naturally made viewers wonder whether he was abusing his medication. Possibly an opioid storyline was developing?

Within the last week, Vickie (Amelia Heinle) and J.T. fought, physically. The site of him grabbing her by the neck and slamming his fist into a closet was scary. That deftly executed and acted scene obviously confirmed that whatever issues J.T. is dealing with are expanding.

J.T. then decided to go all-in where Victor (Eric Braeden) was concerned. While he didn’t anticipate it, the ‘Moustache’ caught him snooping at the Ranch. Another fight erupted after a heated discussion took place in Victor’s upstairs office. After an exchange of blows, J.T. pushed Victor down a full flight of stairs, which rendered him unconscious. The ‘Black Knight’ now lies in a coma.

So the question isn’t if J.T. will eventually be exposed, but how, when and what consequences will he face for his criminal actions? Will Paul (Doug Davidson) arrest J.T. and take him to jail, or will he escape town before that happens?

But looking back on initial fan conjecture, is it also possible that Y&R will write him into an early grave, instead? Killing off this particular character would be extremely dramatic, especially considering the type of person J.T. was between 1999-2010.
