The Young and the Restless (YR) RUMOR: Andrew Stalking Coverup Crew – Ashley One Of Five Blackmail Targets

“I know what you did and I’m going to make you pay,” is the anonymous threat that’s been received by all four members of the coverup crew on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) is the obvious culprit behind this gaslight, but the author could also be another guy, Andrew (Coby Ryan McGlaughlin).

Consider the first hint; Andrew knew Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) when both characters were working in New York in the 1990’s. That familiarity and Andrew having stated that he’d been running the DNA lab in Genoa City for the last year makes him a prime suspect.

Phyllis met Andrew by chance at the GC Athletic Club bar. After recognizing each other and establishing their personal ties via dialogue for the audience, Phyllis referenced her appreciation for Andrew’s ability to have other income sources in the past.

Kyle (Michael Mealor) faced Andrew’s lure, as he was told about the business connection that existed (past tense emphasized) with Ashley (Eileen Davidson) and the secret family information that was part of the play. The implication was that Kyle could obtain said tidbits for the right price.

Jack (Peter Bergman) doesn’t want to believe that Ashley has done anything underhanded, as Kyle has suggested. But the fact that Y&R would write Kyle from one scene with Andrew to the next with his dad clearly suggests that Jack’s extensive DNA quest is about to end.

Assume that Andrew was involved in rigging the paternity test where Ashley supposedly compared Jack and Traci’s (Beth Maitland) samples and the other test where Jack had his sample sized against Billy’s. As the head of the facility, Andrew skewed the results so that Ashley got what she wanted, fixed outcomes.

With the above in mind, it also makes sense that Andrew could have knowledge of J.T.’s (Thad Luckinbill) death and unlawful burial. He knows Phyllis, somehow came to know about the coverup she orchestrated and wants to be paid off for keeping silent, while never revealing his identity.

All seasoned soap fans know that writing Andrew as a double-blackmailer would be preposterous. But they also understand that Y&R is a soap opera. Yes, both scenarios are plausible.
