‘Philly’ hasn’t folded, yet. Though it might be a matter of time before Billy’s possible reckless use of Jabot funds upends his Chief Executive Officer’s chair. If that plays out, the only thing he’ll have left to risk is his prized relationship with Phyllis.
Summer (Hunter King), surprisingly admitted defeat and has momentarily stopped her Billy-chase. Kyle (Michael Mealor) was not stunned to hear the news and decided to milk the proceeds of his unseemly gains. If he was smart, Kyle wouldn’t be within a mile of Summer. But he is, which can only lead trouble for both parties, or at least for him.

Billy previously advised that he didn’t possess enough fluid capital to engage in high-stakes card games. Then, he pulled out an envelope which was filled with a wad of cash that must have counted in the thousands. Sinead (Lira Kellerman) took it because she’s not his friend, but instead is a rival, as Billy defined.
Kyle, working with Ashley (Eileen Davidson) behind Billy’s back, has setup the current Jabot CEO. It’s possible that Phyllis will become wise to what’s happening and rescue her current soul mate before he creates the needed evidence to have him booted from Jabot. This assumes that he borrowed company funds to use in Vegas. If he didn’t Kyle and Ashley would be out of luck.
Returning to the issue of Phyllis’ complicity, it can’t yet be said that she’s helping Billy to defeat himself. In fact, the opposite appears to be true. But in order to retain her role as Billy’s arguably most effective champion, Phyllis must help him to break free of his revisited addiction.
Billy’s belief that gambling on cards, horses (which was a wink toward the horse, Philly, he bought for Phyllis), or whatever else is part of who is always will be is a false assertion. Phyllis has previously shown Billy that he can maintain a meaningful relationship and realize his business potential. Now she must go all-in to try and break the man she loves from this powerful vice.
