The Young and The Restless (YR) Spoilers: Devon Disrespects Father – Neil Offered Adopted Son Different Life

How would Devon (Bryton James) have inherited Katherine’s (Jeanne Cooper) fortune on ‘The Young and the Restless‘ if Neil (Kristoff St. John) hadn’t welcomed him into his life? In all likelihood Devon never would have and would lived a vastly different life than he has.

Tenured Y&R fans know the story. For all others, Neil and Dru (Victoria Rowell) adopted Devon in the mid-2000’s. Eventually, James’ character came to learn that Tucker (Stephen Nichols, who’s currently playing his most famous soap role, Patch on Days of our Lives) was his father. Nichols’ character was revealed as Katherine’s son and thus Devon became her grandson.

Hilary’s (Mishael Morgan) death surely was going to result in Devon suffering through the stages of grief. The fact that she lost their unborn baby before dying in the hospital infinitely compounded Devon’s misery. However, neither event gives him license to be treating Neil as he is now.

While wrong, it’s understandable that he would see Lily (Christel Khalil) as the cause of his loved one’s demise. She allowed herself to be distracted, by Hilary, while driving and fatefully ran that right light. Hopefully, in time that bent feeling will be straightened by reason. But what did Neil do?

Devon has begun flashing back to Neil having kidnapped Hilary after ‘Hevon’s’ first wedding. So, this is becoming Devon’s latest emotional weapon of choice.

Y&R devotees know that storyline diversion was needed because Morgan was pregnant with and then delivered her first child, Niam, at the time. They also know Morgan has exited the cast, potentially forever and surely will never play Hilary again, during her second pregnancy. She is expected to deliver around the time the calender turns to 2019.

Dru died a horrible accidental death in 2007, which Devon well knows. So he should never berate that man who voluntarily chose to become his father and has treated him far better than Tucker ever did. Katherine is surely ashamed of her grandchild as she watches from Heaven. That likely hasn’t crossed his mind, yet.
