The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Major Abbott Drama – Billy, Ashley, Traci, and Jack Battle

Traci (Beth Maitland) never intended to be the head of Jabot on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But she is because Billy (Jason Thompson), Ashley (Eileen Davidson), and Jack (Peter Bergman) can’t get along, among other things.

The fact that all four of the above named people were at least partially related to others was never a question in the past. But Dina’s (Marla Adams) staggering revelation earlier this year set a series of soapy events in motion.

Who exactly are Abbott family members? Three decades ago Ashley learned that John (Jerry Douglas) wasn’t her biological father. While the patriarch of the Abbott family apparently never gained that knowledge, everyone else did. Years later, circa 2018, Ashley became enraged because Jack was using a clause to prevent her from becoming Chief Executive Officer.

Billy never had a reason to think that he wasn’t an Abbott and he still doesn’t. His seeming blood tie to John allowed him to be elevated to Jabot’s top spot, though he didn’t want it at first. But if Y&R allows Jack to reclaim his name legacy then some plot point has to give.

To-date viewers have been told that the DNA test Ashley had conducted, where a claimed friend of hers tested Jack’s sample against Traci’s, without the knowledge of either, revealed a half-match. That meant Jack and Traci seemed to share Dina as a mother, but not John as their father.

After learning about the above, Jack then had his DNA sample tested against Billy’s, with his approval. A non-match resulted. Following the logic above, with Jack not being John’s son, the second test seemed to confirm that Billy was still the Abbott.

The developing storyline will center upon all tests conducted so far. Key dialogue will involve Ashley’s grudge and claims about the DNA test she ordered.

It appears that Y&R is going to restore Jack’s last name by revealing that Ashley rigged the DNA test that involved Thompson’s character. That led to Billy’s accession, with his eventual screw-up being expected and the current Jabot drama. But viewers must watch to confirm whatever complex explanation is to be offered.
