Wow, Phyllis (Gina Tognoni)! Of all the women who Nick (Joshua Morrow) could have connected, or reconnected with, it had to be her? Yes, it was as Sharon learns.
Shock, betrayal, tears, and other soapy reactions, along with pained dialogue follows. But so too does a dilemma. How long will ‘Shick’s’ wedding guests, which include the last-minute addition, Victor (Eric Braeden), wait, or will the re-nuptials be held at all?
Okay, two questions in the preceding two paragraphs. How about answers? That makes three questions now. Projection follows.

Two reveals are in order, not just one. Y&R viewers know that the fate of Sharon and Nick’s long-awaited remarriage is not the only plot point that must be addressed. Along with whether the wedding happens stands Sharon’s withheld secret about J.T.’s (Thad Luckinbill) death.
Sure, Nick didn’t tell Sharon about what took place between him and the force that drove ‘Shick’ apart. The human impetus being referenced is, of course, Tognoni’s softened character, Phyllis.
What has proved intriguing about the storyline angle for Morrow’s character is that the Phyllis he cavorted with when he and Sharon were not expected to remain together is nothing like Michelle Stafford’s iconic version of the eventual Mrs. Newman. That being the Phyllis’ version who, together with a grieving Nick, tore apart the original ‘Shick’. Ironically, Tognoni’s edition is far more compassionate and much less impulsive.
Nick and Phyllis aren’t involved and don’t plan to be. Hopefully, Sharon comes to understand that what happened can be dealt with so ‘Shick’s’ wedding can happen. Plus, Sharon’s total reaction must consider her own secret.
There’s no way to tell how Nick will react when Sharon tells him about the coverup crew, or he learns in an alternative way. Her so-called offense is far less egregious than Nick’s, as Sharon didn’t betray her fiance by withholding her secret.
