Vickie has been single for awhile. Billy (Jason Thompson) is with Phyllis (Gina Tognoni), at least for now. But in any regard, there appears to be no push to reunite ‘Villy’. That’s likely good, as Y&R has written down that road many times before. And, J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) is dead (right?). So ‘J.T.V.’ is probably buried.
‘Vate’ would be a different avenue, as Vickie would mesh with a recently recast character. Nate wasn’t overly SORAS’d, based upon his 1990’s birth date. So he’s within Vickie’s age-range.
Nate: “It’s Nate. Hastings. Dr. Hastings.”
Victoria: “Yes, Olivia’s son. It’s been a while. I didn’t know you were back in town.”
They make small talk and Nate says: “I haven’t seen much of Genoa City. Perhaps you can show me around sometime.”

As for Brooks’ alter ego, his backstory is intriguing. There’s plenty to mine where Nate’s tragically deceased girlfriend is concerned. That alone could open the door to Vickie’s heart, who he directly expressed interest in this week. His suggestion implied the expansion of his growing boutique Newman family practice, though that could quickly turn personal.
Vickie’s brush-off is something Billy felt many times. He may come to offer Nate some advice, but that’s getting ahead of the projected storyline. But, as of now, Vickie told Nate that she didn’t have time to show him around town and wasn’t withholding emotional baggage, as he accurately diagnosed.

Y&R’s specific recast choice is interesting, as Nate’s mother, Olivia (Tonya Lee Williams), hasn’t been seen in Genoa City since her brief reappearance in 2012. Williams was a key member of the cast starting more than two decades ago and hopefully will be returning to the cast in the near future. References to ‘Liv’s’ work for Doctor’s Without Borders could leave time for a visit, or a full-fledged comeback.
So, Vickie is single and in need of having her personal storyline expanded beyond the J.T. coverup. Nate was asked to come home by his uncle Neil (Kristoff St. John) to help Victor (Eric Braeden) address medical issues. Brooks’ character’s main arc is sure to expand, which is why the inclusion of Vickie could make sense.
