The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Nikki Forges Alliance With Mia – Wink At Y&R’s Past

The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Nikki Forges Alliance With Mia – Wink At Y&R's PastNikki (Melody Thomas Scott) has taken Mia (Noemi Gonzalez) under her wing on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Mrs. Newman hasn’t done so for the same reasons that Katherine (Jeanne Cooper) did for her, or as the ‘Grand Dame’ once did for Jill (as initially played by Brenda Dickson). But an homage to this iconic soap opera’s past is being presented to fans, both devoted and new.

Jill (as now played by the great, and always welcomed back for recurring visits, Jess Walton) will certainly recognize Nikki’s efforts the moment she sees them. One would think that Walton’s character won’t like Mia because she’s Nikki’s friend.

In the meantime, as longtime fans wait for that retro wink, they’ll continue watching Nikki try to play Mia for whatever information can be gleaned from Rey (Jordi Vilasuso). At this point in the storyline, the coverup crew will take whatever case tidbits can be had.

Gonzalez is a terrific addition to the cast. The character she’s playing fits right in for various reasons, one of which is the Nikki-Mia friendship pairing.

Sure, Scott’s character is initially using Mia in a typical Newman manner. But this jumping off point presents obvious opportunity for the two to become genuine friends. The fact that Nikki is wanting the bottle also can establish Mia as her fixer and future defender, further indebting one to the other.

The Katherine-Jill duo developed into a fierce, extended battle. However, both ladies ended their friendship on truly fond terms. In contrast, Katherine’s love for Nikki was like a mother-daughter connection.

Mia is now motivated to provide Nikki with information that may prove momentarily useful, if not clearing. Nikki will enable Mia’s access to Genoa City’s elite, thus further establishing this particular character as a likely longterm power player.

The past is revered by soap fans. So kudos must be offered to Y&R, which appears to be creating a new generational pairing, with Nikki as the connected, well-off sage and Mia as the student who establishes her reputation with the help of a well-placed friend.
