The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Sparks Fly Between Sharon And Billy – Is Shilly Happening?

Sharon (Sharon Case) and Billy (Jason Thompson) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. The idea that these two characters would become a couple, if stated just a handful of months ago, would have been impossible. But not now because ‘Shilly’ works.

Whether they follow their intended rub of ‘Phick’ fully through to a relationship remains to be seen. In the meantime, the two-level insider’s tease that has put Sharon and Billy together is very pleasing to many people, except, of course, Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) and Nick (Joshua Morrow).

The direct push of this pairing is to irk the two people who wronged them. Sharon and Billy are having a rollicking time poking their former significant others. And then there’s the wink at the viewers that’s working as well.

‘Shick’ fans believed that the couple they’ve been longing to see reunite were actually going to be married last month. Then they weren’t, which echoed 2014’s remarriage fail.

Both moments were wrecked with Phyllis’ inclusion, though the halted ceremony four years ago happened due to Sharon’s paternity secret. This year’s nuptial stop saw the reversal, as Sharon revealed the then-unknown ‘Phick’ revival.

Devoted viewers recall that Sharon and Billy (as then played by Billy Miller) did have a romantic get-together in the past. That wasn’t intended to last and went nowhere quickly. Late 2018’s pairing of Case’s enduring alter ego and Thompson’s edition of this classic Y&R character projects differently.

Bonding over their shared betrayal experience, Sharon and Billy are organically forming a friendship based on better days seen ahead. Each person is genuinely done with those other people and could find the exact circumstances of what would be a new relationship to be comfortable. However, it must be said that Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) is an option for Sharon and, as ever, Vickie (Amelia Heinle) is still Billy’s true love.

If ‘Shilly’ proves to simply be a fun connection that allows Sharon and Billy to get fully past heartbreak, then so be it. But the potential appeal of these character’s persistence as a duo does exist due to the chops both actors consistently bring to their roles.
