A wedding swap appears in the making on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Just when ‘Shick’ fans thought that Sharon (Sharon Case) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) were finally going to get remarried, it now looks like they may not. Meanwhile, Billy (Jason Thompson) asks Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) to marry him.
Of course the ‘Philly’ wedding may, or may not happen, as the ousted Jabot Chief Executive Officer has just asked the latest love of his life for her hand in marriage. An entire follow-up article, or series of features, would be needed to recant the volume of marriages all four characters combined have had. So, let’s stick with these storylines instead.

Sharon was wrecked when Mariah (Camryn Grimes) felt compelled to tell her mom what she overheard. Summer (as temporarily played by Bayley Corman) was talking recklessly with Kyle (Michael Mealor) on the Genoa City Athletic Club’s rooftop deck when her proposed step-sister learned the truth.
Already having trepidation about Sharon’s choice to recommit to Nick and after also hearing Faith’s (Alyvia Alyn Lind) concerns, Mariah made a decision. She told Sharon everything, after which the 1999 Runaway Bride flick, which starred Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, played out in hardcore entertainment fan’s minds.
As that is transpiring, Billy is asked by Phyllis to attend ‘Shick’s’ apparent wedding. Taken by surprise, Billy becomes reflective and then proposes that ‘Philly’ follow ‘Shick’s’ lead. Of course, he doesn’t know that the couple in question may not be a role model duo.
To put it lightly, ‘Philly’ has been fought by a contingent in Y&R’s audience. Many understandably just couldn’t and can’t see this pairing as plausible. Their outlook would naturally extend into a no-confidence vote on any marriage proposal. And yes, that was a wink at Ashley (Eileen Davidson) and Kyle, though mostly Kyle, orchestrating Billy having lost the Jabot board vote and being thrown out of a job he didn’t initially want.
Will Sharon return and marry Nick? Will Phyllis go all-in and marry Billy? A search for these answers is why Y&R fans watch.
