The couple started dating in 2020. Grimes reached out to Powell, a Disney animation voice-over artist, after co-star Bryton James (Devon Hamilton-Winters) encouraged her to prepare a voice-over demo.
They got to know each other over the phone, as this was during the COVID-19 pandemic. Grimes and Powell ended up getting engaged in 2022, when he surprised her with a proposal.
As early 2023 rolled around, the twosome found out they were expecting. Grimes told Soap Opera Digest (SOD) at the time that they were, “… over-the-moon happy.
As we shared the news, it was so heartwarming to see people excited for me because becoming a mother is something that I’ve wanted for a long, long time.” Bridger Elias Powell was welcomed into the world on December 13, 2023.

The two had a destination wedding on Saturday, November 8, in New Orleans, surrounded by a guest list of 75 of their family and friends.
Those in attendance included the actress’s uncle, actor Scott Grimes from Party of Five fame, longtime friend General Hospital alum Robert Palmer Watkins (ex-Dillon Quartermaine), as well as bestie and Y&R colleague Hayley Erin (Claire Newman).
During a People interview, Grimes revealed they chose The Columns Hotel as a venue because, “It’s a little moody, a little funky but at the same time very classy and historic.” Grimes wore a KYHA Studios two-piece outfit, while Powell donned a rich green suit.
The bride walked down the aisle to Yoko Shimomura’s “Dearly Beloved”, a theme from the video games Kingdom Hearts, and the two partook in the Celtic ritual of handfasting to honor Grimes and Powell’s shared Irish and Scottish roots.
Grimes and Powell also wrote their vows, and as Disney “super fans,” Bill Rogers, “The Voice of Disneyland,” was the wedding officiant. The couple is going on a honeymoon to Fiji, followed by a family trip to New Zealand.
