The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Needs More Abbotts
It’s clear that Y&R is trying to revitalize the Abbott clan, who had a major story together a few years ago when Dina Mergeron (Marla Adams) was suffering from Alzheimer’s and finally succumbed, but it’s been a long time since the Abbott sisters were featured prominently on the show. Traci Abbott last had a B-level story when she wrote a novel imagining Cane Ashby (Daniel Goddard) as the lead. Cane then thought he fell for Traci after that and she had to let him down easy.
Eileen Davidson left the soap in 2017 saying she was not going to return, but she was back on a recurring basis not six months later so clearly, the soap can get her on the set. When the entire clan met Allie Nguyen (Kelsey Wang( and had to deal with seeing Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) again after all these years, we saw how much fun Ashley could still be. However, the character needs to be used as more than just a talk-to and more than just Abby Newman Chancellor’s (Melissa Ordway) mom.
Y&R Spoilers – Give Ashley Abbott And Traci Abbott Something To Do
While it’s uncertain whether Davidson would want to return to The Young and the Restless on a full-time basis, if they did manage to get her back, she needs a love interest and conflict and to be seen on screen on a regular basis. Maitland makes it clear whenever she promotes a Genoa City appearance on Twitter that she wants to be there. With Traci still being the soul of the Abbott family, and its conscience, Maitland should be a front and center presence on the soap.
Yes, it’s nice that we are getting a new generation of Abbotts with Kyle Abbott’s (Michael Mealor) marriage to Summer Newman (Allison Lanier), his son Harrison, and even Jack’s newfound granddaughter Allie, it’s not enough. We need some of the original Abbotts around to make the family feel complete and not just every few weeks or every few months. Traci and Ashley are still two very vital characters and the soap would feel more familiar if we saw them more, preferably with real storylines. Stay tuned to The Young and the Restless weekdays to see if Ashley and Traci appear more often.
