The Young And The Restless Spoilers -Didn’t Make Us Care
Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Chance Chancellor (then Donny Boaz, now Conner Floyd) had hardly been dating when one day after a night in bed they started discussing how nice it would be to have a family and babies in their lives. Wait! Two people who appear to be in their early 30s both want a baby?!?!? Well, isn’t that a soap match made in heaven?
The next thing we knew, they were declaring their love, engaged, married, and Abby thought she would be pregnant right away. After one month of trying, Abby’s wish didn’t come true so she ran to a fertility doctor and learned that while she has perfectly healthy eggs, her uterus was too damaged by her previous late-term miscarriage to carry another baby to term. But that’s ok, they could make a baby in a petri dish using her egg and Chance’s sperm and someone else could carry it.
Except, they then learned Chance’s swimmers weren’t working very well after they already lined up Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) as a host uterus because suddenly she and Abby were BFFs. Then, Chance just took off for parts unknown on a secret government mission, with Abby still determined to find just the right sperm donor. Lo and behold, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) learned of her plight and offered his services. Never mind that he had already dated both Abby and Mariah in the past, making this whole thing triple awkward.
Y&R Spoilers – Stitch Rayburn For No Reason
Abby once had a good husband in Stitch Rayburn (Sean Carrigan). It was his mentally ill son, Max, who ruined their marriage and Stitch moved away to care for the boy. Then, he oddly turned up while Mariah was pregnant — and while Mariah was kidnapped. We eventually learned Stitch set the whole thing up to look like the hero and rescue Mariah so Abby would take him back. Wait, what? Make it make sense, was all we could think.
It also made no sense that Devon of all people would agree to create a child and then give up all rights to it. To make matters worse, Abby didn’t seem to consider the feelings of both Mariah and Devon when Dominic was born.
And when she thought Chance was dead she dumped the baby on Devon’s doorstep telling him he would be the only father the baby would ever know. But then, Chance was alive, Abby swiped the baby back, Devon feels lost, Mariah is desperate to have another baby, but Abby has her white picket fence family, right? What a mess! And the reason this is soaps’ worst 2021 story. Stay tuned to The Young and the Restless weekdays to see if they ever fix this debacle.
wow quite a story but it has to be told so others can come here to check out how? why? where and who's? Devon and Mariah got to go on with their own lives baby free its not their baby its Chance and Abby's son Dominic. Its up to you writers please do your job about these two Devon & Mariah!
Good recap of Abby n Chance but couldn’t read it again. I agree it’s awful storyline and still hope Chance stays home now his level headed mother is back !! Someone has to help this great guy.
End of my story . Devon butt out & go live ur own life with Amanda . Mariah give it up . Stop pushing baby on Tessa. Live life . Just me.
This storyline goes to show those that wish to use this method to have a family; not to use friends for this. Best to have unknown person's to be involved. No close connections may be the best.
Definitely the worts soap story of 2021. Worst leading actress too. A decent actress would have managed to achieve sympathy from fans not desperation for this story to end. It was painful to watch.
This ridiculous story sadly well deserves the accolade of the "worst soap story of 2021" and even worse it's still running into 2022. Ok so the writers made a mess of this once promising story but the head writer should have the talent to have brought it to a swiftt end when it went from bad to worse. Abby is pretty and fluffy and suits the lighthearted episodes, clearly she should stick to that because a good actress should have, and would have gleaned at least some sympathy. Instead Abby caused frustration, fatigue and a desire to switch to another channel. Devon was the only one in this fiasco worth watching, his connection to the baby, worry and struggle with doorstep dropping mom Abby and a clearly traumatized Chance was good acting but even his performance couldn't save this sniveling mess of the spoiled and selfish new mom.
