Walton said in an interview that working less means she gets to spend more time with her family in Oregon. Being off-contract has had some advantages. She gets to be with her husband John James who just recently recovered from a serious health condition. Moreover, Walton said she gladly accepts Y&R’s invitation whenever she is needed in the show. She packs her bags and travels to Los Angeles to shoot her scenes for Y&R.
Jess Walton plays Jill, who’s been with the show from the very beginning. She got married to John, portrayed by Jerry Douglas, twice and also had a fling with Jack (Peter Bergman). With her long history with Y&R, it’s no surprise that fans would want to continue seeing her onscreen.
Walton had a hunch that she might get lesser screen time when Tristan Roger’s (Colin Atkinson) character left the show since her character Jill was married to him. So, that means she wasn’t that surprised when the time came that her character didn’t appear that often on screen. She also feels grateful to Y&R executive producer Mal Young for treating her with a lot of respect and for being able to talk to him regarding her concerns.
With her husband’s improved health condition, Walton recently talked to the show’s bosses and asked them if it is possible to get more work. Hopefully, her request is heard and fans will get to see her more onscreen next year. She was last seen with Billy, (Jason Thompson) who sought out professional help for his gambling addiction.
